The quality of welding is analyzed by „Fast Fourier Transformation“ (FFT) on recorded current. Electric and magnetic field are measured using an instrument „Macshek ESM – 100 3D Fieldmeter“ [1]. Welding current is recorded using the On-line monitoring system [2]. Recording parameters of these two devices have synchronization time on Online interface over hardware pin and interrupt routine in LabView software platform. Scale, resolution and synchronization of measured signals are additionally analyzed in Matlab.

Welding of 304L Stainless Steel with Activated Tungsten Inert Gas Process (A-TIG)

Gas tungsten arc welding is a popular process in those applications requiring a high degree of quality and accuracy. However, this process has a big disadvantage against the substantially high productivity welding procedures. Hence, many efforts have been made to improve its productivity. One of these efforts is the use of activating flux (A-TIG welding). In this study, the performance of A-TIG...

Optimization of TIG-MIG hybrid welding of 316L austenitic stainless steel

In the TIG-MIG hybrid welding, higher weld efficiency and better weld quality are obtained with respect to each individual TIG and MIG welding methods. Moreover, in this method, the MIG arc is more stable in pure argon shielding gas. Therefore, in this study, the influence of TIG-MIG hybrid welding parameters on the welds appearance quality and welds depth to width ratio of a 316L austenitic st...

Evolution of microstructures and mechanical properties of AZ31 magnesium alloy weldment with TIG and Pulsed TIG process

Magnesium alloys are very attractive materials owing to their properties of low density, high specific strength and stiffness, good castability, and weldability. AZ31 magnesium alloys in terms of weldability has better situation than the other, so it has more applications than other magnesium alloys. In this study, TIG and pulsed TIG welding method was used to welding the AZ31 alloy and finally...

The effect of activating fluxes on 316L stainless steel weld joint characteristic in TIG welding using the Taguchi method

Gas tungsten arc welding is fundamental in those industries where it is important to control the weld bead shape and its metallurgical characteristics. However, compared to the other arc welding process, the shallow penetration of the TIG welding restricts its ability to weld thick structures in a single pass (~ 2 mm for stainless steels), thus its productivity is relativity low. This is why th...
